TCD probe the s are extensively used to analyze the circulation of the blood through temporal window of the human brain using the ultrasound technology. Most of existing TCD probes that are developed companies are autonomous. Existing auto TCD prob es simply scan and check all the possible directions and select the direction, which has the strongest signal. This process is time consuming and annoying.

In this project, temporal window algorithm (TWA) is proposed which has the ability to reduce the search time to find the strongest signal through the temporal window. In TWA the expected region of the temporal window of the human skull is divided into four quadrants with each quadrant having the N x N user defined grid cells and the location of grid cell having the strongest signal is identified, and then TCD probe is automatically adjusted at this location. The TWA is implemented and simulated using MATLAB, from the MATLAB simulation results it is found that the proposed algorithm can effectively be used to detect and locate the strongest signal point by effectively reducing the search time.

Furthermore, DC motor is used as actuator which drives the TCD probe. To command the TCD probe at any given location state feedback controller is designed, implemented and simulated using MATLAB/Simulink. From the simulation results, it is concluded that under the action of the state feedback controller, TCD probe can be commanded at any location as guided by the TWA.

Finally, it is shown time optimal controller the search time to find the strongest (integrated TWA and SFC) reduces signal and thus have the potential to improve the performance of the existing TCD auto probes.
