Mechanical behaviours of grout for strata reinforcement

Alkandari, Hamed (2017) Mechanical behaviours of grout for strata reinforcement. [USQ Project]

Abstract

The study in this research is conducted on grout samples in order to find out the effects of curing time on large scale compressive strength, small scale compressive strength and on the bending strength of grout samples.

The grout samples were prepared using 0.35 Litres of water for 1kg of grout. All the samples were casted using Stratabinder HS grout which was provided by Minova Austrailia. Cubic, rectangular and cylindrical samples were casted.

When the curing time of the samples was increased, the experiment showed that there is an increase in the universal compressive strength value of small and large scale grout samples. Furthermore, it was also seen that the UCS values of grout samples for different curing time changes with the size of the samples. The large scale and the small scale compression testing samples related with the average scale ratio of 1.7. With the passage of time, the bending strength of grout samples deteriorated.

In addition to the above discussion, different studies with different grout ratios should be conducted with different sample sizes in order to gain better insights and results. The shear capacity and modulus of elasticity should also be determined.
