Smeal, Luke Mclean (2024) A Safe Systems Assessment on a Multimodal Carriageway: Northbourne Avenue, Canberra. [USQ Project]
Abstract
This dissertation investigates the factors contributing to the referenced midblock cycling crashes along Northbourne Avenue and develops a methodology to assess potential improvements. The goal is to enhance the system's safety without requiring modifications to the carriageway. By identifying common elements in these crashes, appropriate measures can be implemented to make Northbourne Avenue as safe as possible for all road users, particularly the vulnerable.
