Abstract
Progressive environmental depletion by humans and industries have generated the indispensable need for advanced materials that are sustainable and counteract the damages caused to the environment. To contradict these environmental concerns and to recognise the significance of advanced and sustainable composite materials they should be adopted by small and medium scale enterprises that comprise the majority of manufacturing sectors. This present research paper had established various parameters that can promote the adoption of sustainable composite materials in small and medium scale industries along with the limiting factors that inhibit the adoption of advanced sustainable composite materials. Qualitative approach of research was used in the present case, documentary and online questionnaire survey analysis were the data collection tools used in the research.
It was conclusively established that the factors that promote the adoption of sustainable composite materials were the material cost on the long run, materials capabilities to satisfy the existing conventional materials and long-term sustainability of that material. Additionally, the limiting factors for small and medium scale enterprises in the adoption of advanced sustainable composites were found to be the initial costs associated with advanced materials, material availability and the lack of necessary standards to regulate the implementation and the usage of advanced sustainable composite materials.
