Abstract
The Terrestrial Laser Scanner (TLS) has revolutionised industries because of its ability to collect immense amounts of data accurately and precisely. Due to these attributes the TLS is also becoming a standard in the surveying industry, but it’s use in Cadastral Type Surveys is yet to be recognised. The aim of this dissertation is to analyse the TLS’s ability to complete cadastral type surveys.
To demonstrate this the TLS is compared with traditional methods of Cadastral Surveying. The process’ and methodology required for the use of TLS in Cadastral surveying will be compared to that currently accepted by the Surveyors Board of Victoria. The results reveal that the cadastral significant data collected with the TLS is comparable to the data collected with a total station. Demonstrating that the Terrestrial Laser and it’s point cloud data can be utilised in cadastral surveys.
