Saleh, Ali (2017) Medication Robot (Path Finding). [USQ Project]
Abstract
Most of the time nurses consume in hospitals while giving medications to the patients after regular intervals of time. Nurses work in different shifts of time to do this laborious and hectic work. Fortunately, using the advancement in technology the process of the medication can be automated by designing the medication robot which is not only beneficial for the paramedical staff of the hospital but also in the best interest of the patients of the hospitals due to the smart features of the medication robot.
In this research work the problem of designing and developing of the control algorithm that is required for the medication robot to move from one location to another location in the presence of external static obstacles in its path of travelling as well as moving people in real time environment of the hospital is taken up and investigated. As a result of the research work conducted in this project, the control algorithm is being proposed using which the medication robot is not only able to move from any given reference location one to fixed destination location but it also has the ability to move to multiple destination locations from any given reference location to by traversing from one destination location to another destination location by avoiding all of the disturbances found in the path of the medication robot.
The effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm is proved by simulating the hospital floor in simulation environments of ROS and STDR respectively. The details about the working of the proposed control algorithm as well as well as simulation results of ROS and STDR are presented in the report. From the simulation results it is concluded that the proposed control algorithm is exactly working as per design and expectations. So, it can be used to control the movements of the medication robot under real time environments of the hospitals.
