CFD modelling in innovation gasification technology using wheat grain trash

Kota, Prashanth (2016) CFD modelling in innovation gasification technology using wheat grain trash. Coursework Masters thesis, University of Southern Queensland. (Unpublished)

Abstract

Biomass gasification enhances the potential of renewable energy resources. There has been an enormous amount of research in the area of thermochemical conversions of biomass into biofuel using different methodologies available. The purpose of this study is to use wheat grain trash as one of the biomass resources many publications have been reviewed in search of a scope to increase the effectiveness of the resources used. The primary objective of this paper is to study the effect of design with different parameters included in the gasification of fixed bed downdraft gasifiers. In this investigation, we are looking for increasing the efficiency of the gasification chamber. So, by simulating the combustion process of wheat and dry air, then by decreasing the nozzle throat size and added water vapour to dry air in different cases and then compared the results with the basic case. The modelling and simulating were done using ANSYS software for designing the chamber with wood and dry air and finally the results are compared.
