Donaldson, Patricia (2014) Exploring the Reliability of Category Norms for Australians. Honours thesis, University of Southern Queensland. (Unpublished)
Abstract
Understanding whether category norms are reliable has been hindered by a lack of appropriate statistical tools. This study makes three contributions. First, the author developed a Classification Template for use in comparisons between groups of category norm responses. Second, the author constructed an analytical approach to the reliability testing of category norms (an Index of Reliability) as an alternative to conventionally applied statistical analyses. Third, 9,600 items of data, assessed for reliability, were contributed to the Australian National Database (AND). Dr. L. Hendry developed the AND to collect uniquely Australian category normed data (particularly from SE Queensland) and make it freely available to researchers.
