Abstract

The Post Separation Cooperative Parenting Program (PSCPP) is a program that seeks to assist separated parents to improve their communications and interactions in order to provide a healthier environment in which children of the separated parents can still maintain connections with both parents without high levels of stress. This project aims to assess the extent to which the program meets its stated objectives and to document its achievements. Data were collected from participants who were separated parents who live in the Toowoomba region who have participated in one of 25 Post Separation Cooperative Parenting Program. Qualitative findings show some positive outcomes associated with the program; however assessment instruments were not sufficiently sensitive to the intervention that was evaluated in this project. The report makes some suggestions for changes to the generation of data that may be able to enhance the assessment of such programs in the future, and concludes that the program does exhibit potential to contribute positively to parental relationships in the way intended.
